The daytime running lamps (DRL) relay is controlled by the body control module (BCM). Positive voltage is applied to the relay coil at all times. The BCM grounds the DRL relay control circuit in order to turn on the DRL relay. When the DRL relay control circuit becomes shorted to battery positive voltage, DTC B2603 is set.
The ignition switch is on.
• | The BCM is commanding the DRL relay on. |
• | The headlamp feedback is not present for 1 second. |
• | The BCM disables the DRL relay control as long as the malfunction is present. |
• | The SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator illuminates. |
• | The CHECK GAGES indicator illuminates. |
• | A current DTC B2603 will clear when the malfunction is no longer present and the ignition switch is cycled. |
• | All BCM history codes clear after 100 ignition cycles (from OFF to ON) with no current codes active during the 100 ignition cycles. |
• | The park brake must be unapplied and the transaxle must be in gear for the DRLs to operate properly. |
• | If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Perform the above tests while wiggling the wiring and connectors. This may often cause the malfunction to appear. |

Listen for an audible click when the DRL relay operates. Command both the ON and OFF states. Repeat the commands as necessary.
Tests for voltage at the coil side of the DRL relay.
Verifies that the body control module is providing ground to the DRL relay.
Tests if ground is constantly being applied to the DRL relay.
