A design change to the fuel line quick-connect fittings
at the fuel sender feed line to the fuel filter connection, and at the fuel
sender return line to the chassis fuel return pipe, was initiated as an interim
production change. Fuel sender assemblies with either the new or old style
quick-connect fittings are interchangeable in service, and the fuel sender
assemblies with the new quick-connect fittings will be serviced under the
existing part number at GMSPO.
The new design quick-connect fitting has a primary and a secondary latching
feature that provides the technician with a more positive indication that
the connection has been properly made. The figure shows the quick-disconnect
fitting in an unlocked position (1), with the primary locking feature engaged
by pushing on the latching feature of the fitting in the direction of the
arrow (2), and with the secondary locking feature engaged by rotating the
tab of the latching feature (3).
