Removal Procedure
- Remove the headliner screws at the topstack well.
- Remove the rear shelf carpet retainers from the rear of the topstack
well.
- Pull the rear edge of
the carpet forward in order to access the back belt molding nuts (3).
- Remove the nuts (3) from the back belt molding nuts.
- Remove the back belt molding (1) from the tackstrip and
the body flange.
- Remove the isolator tape (2), if necessary
Installation Procedure
- Install the isolator tape (2),
if removed, in the center, right and left ends of the back belt molding (1).
- Install caulking thumb grade sealer GM P/N 9982153 or equivalent
in all back belt molding attachment holes.
- Install the back belt molding (1) to the tackstrip and
the body flange.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts (3)
to the back belt molding studs.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts (3) to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
- Use the retainers to install the rear shelf carpet to the rear
of the topstack well.
- Install the headliner screws at the rear of the topstack well.
