Removal Procedure
- Remove the quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the back belt molding. Refer to
Back Belt Outer Molding Replacement
.
- Remove the nuts (4)
from the quarter panel belt outer molding (2) side locations and the
quarter panel belt outer molding from the vehicle.
- Lower the top to the halfway position.
- Remove the screw (5) from the quarter panel belt outer
molding (2).
- Remove the isolator tape (3), if necessary.
- Remove the quarter panel belt outer molding.
Installation Procedure
- Install the isolator tape (3)
to the full length of the quarter panel belt outer opening (2).
- Install caulking thumb grade sealer GM P/N 9982153 or equivalent
in all back belt molding holes except the front two left and right sides.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the quarter
panel belt outer molding (2) to the vehicle and nuts (4).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts (4) to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
- Install the screw (5) to the quarter panel belt outer molding (2).
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 3N·m (23 lb in).
- Install the back belt molding. Refer to

- Install the quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
