Ensure that the ignition switch is in the RUN position. Voltage is applied to the folding top switch through the power accessory fuse. When you move the folding top switch to the UP or DOWN position, you energize the folding top relay. This supplies both power and ground to the motors. The power window circuit breaker supplies the voltage that operates the motors, by way of the folding top relay.
The left and right motors open and close the folding top. These motors are electrically connected together. Based on the position of the folding top switch, the folding top relay supplies power and ground to either side of the motors. The relay sends power and ground to the motors, depending on the desired travel direction of the folding top. The driver directs the direction of the folding top from the folding top switch.
In the event of a malfunction, you may use the bypass switch. The bypass switch manually operates the folding top. When you open the bypass switch, the motors are no longer connected together. This allows for easier manual operation of the folding top.
