Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the hood latch cover. Refer to Hood Latch Cover Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 282259 Size: SH
  2. Pull the end of the housing for the hood latch release cable forward at the hood latch end.

    3. This will separate the cable housing grommet (1) from the hood latch housing.

  3. Remove the end of the hood latch release cable from the hood latch (2).
  4. Unclip the hood latch release cable (1) from the engine wire harness.
  5. Remove the screw that retains the handle to the hood latch release cable.
  6. Remove the handle from the hood latch release cable by pushing the handle forward.
  7. Remove the floor carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  8. Pull the floor carpet away from the floor in order to access the hood latch release cable.
  9. Remove the hood latch release cable (1) by pulling the hood latch release cable from inside the passenger compartment.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 282258 Size: SH
  1. Insert the hood latch release cable (1) through the opening in the dash panel.
  2. Pull the hood latch release cable (1) from the engine compartment in order to seat the grommet.
  3. Install the floor carpet into place.
  4. Install the floor carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  5. Insert the tabs on the hood release cable handle into the hinge pillar.
  6. Pull the hood latch release cable (1) rearward.

    7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Position the end of the cable that has the handle hood latch release.

    8. Install the screws that retain the handle to the hood latch release cable.

    Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  8. Route the hood latch release cable to the hood latch (2).

    9. Clip the hood latch release cable to the wire harness.

  9. Install the end of the hood latch release cable to the slot in the hood latch (2).
  10. Push the hood latch release cable into the hood latch (2).
  11. Install the hood latch cover. Refer to Hood Latch Cover Replacement .
