Repair the rear defogger bus bars or reattach the terminals by soldering using a solder containing the following ingredients:

    • 3 percent silver
    •  27 percent lead
    • 70 percent tin
    • A rosin flux paste
  1. Buff the repair area using a fine steel wool before soldering the bus bar. This removes the oxide coating that forms during the rear window manufacture.
  2. Use a brush to apply a paste-type rosin flux in small quantities to the terminal and/or bus bar repair area.
  3. Ensure that the soldering iron tip is coated with solder beforehand. Use only enough heat to melt the solder. Use only enough solder in order to ensure a complete repair.
  4. Do not overheat the terminal when soldering.
