  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.
  4. Open the driver's door.

Does the chime sound?

--

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Are the instrument panel lamps illuminated on the instrument panel cluster?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the ignition switch connector C2.
  3. Install a scan tool.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the Body Control Module data list.

Does the Key In Ignition parameter display Off?

Test the signal circuit of the key in ignition switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard or Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the BCM. Refer to BCM Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
