Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Observe the ECT parameter in the powertrain control module (PCM) ENGINE DATA 1 data display.

Does the scan tool indicate that the ECT parameter is the same as the engine coolant temperature gauge?

Go to A Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check -2.2L or A Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check -2.4L in Engine Controls

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Perform the Coolant Gauge Sweep Test.

Did the gauge sweep?

Go to Step 4

Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 6

Replace the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
