Use the Scan Tool Data Display Values and Definitions Information in order to assist in diagnosing vehicle malfunctions. Compare the vehicles actual scan tool data with the typical data display value table information. Use the data information in order to aid in understanding the nature of the problem when the vehicle does not match with the typical data display values.
The scan tool data values were taken from a known good vehicle under the following conditions:
• | The ignition switch is in the ON position. |
• | The engine is not running. |
• | The vehicle is in PARK. |
This input displays ACTIVE when the odometer trip reset switch on the instrument panel cluster is pressed.
The BCM uses this data in order to determine the position of the ignition switch. ON is displayed when the ignition switch is in the ON or CRANK position.
This input displays the actual battery voltage during ON or CRANK.
The instrument cluster lights this lamp when the engine oil pressure drops below a level that could damage the engine. This lamp is normally lit with the ignition on and the engine off.
The instrument cluster lights this lamp when a malfunction has occured in the antilock brakes system.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the traction system is turned off.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the vehicle fuel level drops below a predetermined level.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when a malfunction has occured in the charging system. This lamp is normally lit with the ignition on and the engine off.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the conditions are correct to light the daytime running lights (DRL). For the DRLs to light, the vehicle must be running, out of park, and the park brake must be unapplied.
On vehicles with manual transaxles, the instrument cluster will light this lamp when the engine reaches a predetermined RPM.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the engine coolant temperature reaches a level that could cause engine damage.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when a malfunction has occured within the vehicle's electrical system.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the engine coolant level drops below a predetermined level.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when a malfunction has occured within the supplemental inflatable restraint system (SIR). At ignition on, the SIR lamp will normally flash 7 times then turn off if the system is operating properly.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the seat belt is unbuckled.
The instrument cluster will light this lamp when the high beam headlamps are on.
This lamp will light when a malfunction has occured in the hydraulic brake system or with the park brake applied.
The scan tool displays the current position of the gear select lever.
