Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

1. Start the engine.
2. Use the scan tool to observe the ENGINE SPEED parameter in the ENGINE DATA 1 data display.

Does the scan tool indicate that the ENGINE SPEED parameter is the same as the tachometer gauge?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check -2.2L or Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check -2.4L in Engine Controls

Go to Step 3

Replace the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 4

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
