For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Raise the front end of the vehicle off of the ground until the wheels are free to turn.
  2. Remove the power steering return hose from the pump reservoir.
  3. Plug the power steering pump reservoir port.
  4. Position the power steering return line toward a large container in order to catch the draining fluid.
  5. While an assistant fills the reservoir with standard power steering fluid or optional cold climate fluid, start and run the engine at idle.
  6. Notice: Do not hold the steering wheel against the stops while flushing the power steering system. Holding the steering wheel against the wheel stops will cause high system pressure, overheating, and damage to the power steering pump and/or gear.

  7. Turn the steering wheel from stop-to-stop.
  8. Continue draining the fluid until all of the old fluid is cleared from the power steering system. Add one quart of new fluid in order to flush the system.
  9. Unplug the power steering pump reservoir port. Reconnect the power steering return line.
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
