The power steering fluid level is indicated by marks on either of the following components:

    • A see-through fluid reservoir
    • A fluid level indicator on the fluid reservoir cap

Notice: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use power steering fluid GM P/N 1050017 or equivalent meeting GM Spec. No. 9985010. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.

Important: Low ambient air temperature may reduce the power steering assist. This condition is related to the power steering fluid viscosity. Do not confuse this condition with conditions having similar symptoms. A new low-temperature climate service fluid GM P/N 12345867 (32 oz) or the equivalent is available for use in cold climates.

If the fluid is warm (about 77°C (170°F), or hot to the touch, ensure that the fluid level is at the full HOT mark.

If the fluid is cool (about 21°C (70°F), ensure that the fluid level is at the full COLD mark.
