Removal Procedure
Important: Service the clutch pedal and bracket as an assembly.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 2.2L or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 2.4L.
- Remove the clutch master cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal.
- Disconnect the clutch position and clutch cruise control switches.
- Remove the clutch cruise control switch from the bracket.
- Remove the instrument panel support beam.
- Remove the instrument panel support beam bracket bolt.
- Remove the clutch pedal
and bracket mounting nuts.
- Remove the clutch pedal and bracket assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the clutch pedal
and bracket assembly.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the clutch
pedal and bracket mounting nuts.
Tighten
Start with the lower nuts, tighten the nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
- Install the instrument support bracket bolt.
- Install the instrument panel support beam.
- Install the clutch master cylinder pushrod bushing on the pedal.
Lubricate the bushing.
- Install the clutch master cylinder pushrod to the clutch pedal.
- Install the cruise control switch.
- Connect the following components:

• | The clutch position switch |
- Adjust the cruise control clutch switch, if equipped. Refer to
Cruise Control Cable Adjustment
in Cruise Control.
