Tools Required

J 28467-360 Engine Support Fixture

1. Remove the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.2L or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.4L.
2. Disconnect the TV cable, if equipped. Refer to Automatic Transmission Throttle Valve Cable Replacement .
3. Remove the power brake booster line.
4. Remove the hose.



5. Install the J 28467-360
6. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
7. Remove the engine mount strut.
8. Remove the left front tire and the wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
9. Remove the left front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
10. Remove the crossmember.



11. Remove the left front ABS wheel speed sensor connector.



12. Remove the harness from the suspension support.
13. Remove the left front ball joint. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
14. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
15. Remove the front suspension support. Refer to Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement .
16. Remove the left side drive axle from the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
17. Remove the transmission cooler pipes. Plug in order to prevent leakage. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement .
18. Remove the P/S lines from the P/S gear. Plug in order to prevent leakage.



19. Remove the transmission mount to body bolts.



20. Remove the pipe expansion bolt from the transmission support assembly.
21. Lower the engine and the transmission assembly just enough to be able to remove the transmission support assembly and the mount assembly.



22. Remove the transmission mount from the transmission support assembly.



23. Remove the transmission support assembly bolts.



24. Remove the transmission support assembly.

1. Position the transmission support assembly into the vehicle.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the transmission support assembly bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).




3. Install the transmission mount to the transmission support assembly.
4. Raise the engine and the transmission assembly.



5. Install the transmission mount to body bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 66 N·m (49 lb ft).




6. Install the transmission pipe expansion bolt to the transmission support assembly.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

7. Install the P/S lines to the P/S gear.
8. Install the transmission cooler lines. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement .
9. Install the left drive axle to the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
10. Install the front suspension support. Refer to Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement .
11. Install the stabilizer shaft to the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
12. Install the left front ball joint. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.



13. Route the left front ABS wheel speed sensor.



14. Connect the left front ABS wheel speed sensor.
15. Install the crossmember.
16. Install the left front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End
17. Install the left front tire and the wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
18. Install the engine mount strut.
19. Lower the vehicle.



20. Remove the engine support fixture.
21. Install the power brake booster line.
22. Install the TV cable, if equipped. Refer to Automatic Transmission Throttle Valve Cable Replacement .
23. Install the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.2L or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.4L.
24. Adjust the P/S oil level.
25. Inspect the transmission oil level.
26. Inspect the transmission for oil leaks.
