For 1990-2009 cars only
Removal
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Disconnect the positive battery cable at the battery.
- Cut the tape holding the two cables together at the retainer on the battery tray.
- Cut the tape holding the two cables together near the transmission electical plug.
- Remove the positive battery cable nut at the starter solenoid. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
- Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the new cable in the vehicle in the same location as the old cable.
- Install the cable end onto the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
- Tape the cables together at the transmission electrical connector.
- Tape the cables together at the battery tray.
- Install the positive battery cable end onto the battery.
- Tighten the positive battery cable bolt to the battery to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
