The purpose of this bulletin is to advise of major changes affecting the 1984 model year dealer service bulletin format.
The changes are:
(1) Only one type bulletin to be issued. The title is "Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin". The Technical and Information distinction in the bulletin title will be eliminated.
(2) A sequential numbering system 84-1, 84-2, etc., will be used instead of the two (2) number system presently in use.
(3) The 1984 Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin will be goldenrod color and five (5) hole punched.
(4) The classification will be consistent with the service manual. Refer to Page 2.
(5) The subject and model/year in the bulletin title will be separate line entries for ease of identification.
(6) The routing and distribution block on the bottom of the first page has been eliminated.
In addition, bulletins with an October, 1983 date will reflect only the year and sequential number eliminating any reference to Technical (T) or Information (I). Example: 83-97.
Any bulletins issued during the 1984 model year which involve only previous model year vehicles, will show the new UPC classification and ( ) the current 1983 UPC Code. Example: Engine Electrical 6D and (VIy).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
