Product Safety - Brake Pedal Retaining Clip (Export)

Subject:06226 -- Brake Pedal Retaining Clip

Models:2007 Chevrolet Captiva

Condition

General Motors has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2007 Chevrolet Captiva vehicles. The brake booster push rod to brake pedal retaining clip may be missing. If this retaining clip is not installed, the brake booster rod can be separated from the brake pedal mounting pin by the repeated brake pedaling operation and the disconnection of the brake booster rod and the brake pedal results in the loss of the braking function by the brake pedal. When the brake booster rod is separated from the brake pedal mounting pin, the braking can be possible using a parking brake.

Correction

Dealers are to inspect for a properly installed brake pedal push rod retaining clip. If the clip is not installed, install a clip to the brake pedal mounting pin.
