PASSENGER CAR ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS

MODEL AND YEAR: 1987 CHEVROLET PASSENGER CARS EXCEPT NOVA, SPECTRUM, SPRINT

Alignment specifications are being published on the reverse side of this bulletin due to some recent specification changes. many of the recent changes have been reductions in toe for improved tire wear.

Four-wheel alignment is recommended whenever rear suspension is adjustable. Four-wheel alignment equipment, such as in the GM Dealer Equipment Catalog, is recommended. Alignment equipment must be calibrated on a regular basis.

NOTES: - All specifications, including toe, are in degrees. - All toe specifications are total (sum) toe with appropriate steering wheel or thrust angle requirements. (Individual toe may be obtained by dividing total toe in half. Ex: .1 +/- .2 Total toe = .05 +/- .1 individual toe. - Positive toe is toe-in. - Cross caster equals left caster minus right caster. - Cross camber equals left camber minus right camber. - Thrust angle is the angle between the path the rear wheels will take and the car's centerline.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
