Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin 87-267-7A dated January, 1988, is being reissued to correct a part number indicated with art work on Page 2. All copies of the January, 1988 issued bulletin should be discarded.
A new turbine shaft with a ball capsule entered production for the 200C transmission (Figure 1). Transmissions produced between October 8, 1986 (Julian date 281) and December 15, 1986 (Julian date 349) may inadvertently have had a plug left in the pump cover (refer to Figure 2, item 222). If the plug is left in, a slightly slower torque converter clutch (TCC) apply may result. This slightly slower TCC apply is not a durability concern.
When installing a Neutral/Drive shift package, as referenced in Dealer Service Bulletin 87-149 (Section 7A) dated May 1987, or when servicing a pump on a THM 200C built between the above time frames, make sure the plug is removed from the pump cover. The new turbine shaft assembly with ball capsule is included in the Neutral/Drive shift package.
Part Number Description Model Applications ----------- ----------- ------------------ 8633958 Cover Assembly, Pump All (with plug) for use when servicing transmissions produced prior to October 8, 1986, Julian date 281.

8638968 Cover Assembly, Pump 7CUB (without plug)
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
