Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
    • J 37088-A Tool Set, Fuel Line Quick-Connect Separator

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Clean all the engine compartment connecting fuel pipe connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
  4. Disconnect the engine compartment fuel feed pipe (2) at the fuel rail (1). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  5. Disconnect the engine compartment fuel feed pipe (2) at the chassis fuel feed pipe (4). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Cap the fuel pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 172963  Size: SH
  1. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes.
  2. Connect the engine compartment fuel feed pipe (2) to the chassis fuel feed pipe (3). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  3. Connect the engine compartment fuel feed pipe (2) to the fuel rail (1). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  4. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Inspect for leaks.
  7. 6.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
    6.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
    6.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    6.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  8. Perform the Idle Learn Procedure. Refer to Idle Learn .
