Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin 87-244 (Section 3B) dated October 1987 is being reissued to correct the engine VIN code indicated in the model and year. All copies of 87-244 dated October 1987 should be discarded.
Some 1987 Camaros with 2.8L multi-port fuel injection engine, power steering and air conditioning may exhibit a loss of the serpentine accessory drive belt due to a broken power steering pump bracket and/or power steering pump brace.
To service this condition, the power steering pump bracket should be replaced; and, a new design four-point power steering pump rear brace should be installed as a replacement for the production three-point design. All replacement hardware and the instructions for installing the power steering pump bracketry may be obtained by ordering Service Package, P/N 10099904, from GMSPO.
