Wiper Arm Pressure Check
- Run the wiper arm and the blade assemblies to the mid-wipe position.
- Remove the wiper blades from the wiper arms. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
.
- Attach a scale to the end of the wiper arm and measure the force
required to lift the wiper arm perpendicular to the windshield to the normal
working height (the height with the blade assembly attached).
- If the force required
is not within the specifications given below, the wiper arm assembly should
be replaced:
Tip Pressure -- 7.8-9.5 Newtons (28-34 Ounces)
Blade Element Set Check
Remove the wiper arm blades from the wiper arm assemblies, being careful
to note orientation for reassembly. Look down the length of the blade element.
The rubber element which contacts the glass must be on the centerline of the
blade assembly +/- 15 degrees. Replace the element if necessary.
