CHEV/GMC TRUCK SERV. BULL. PUBLICATIONS WILL BE JOINT

MODELS: ALL CHEVROLET/GMC TRUCK MODEL YEARS

Effective with this bulletin, number 81-T-1, Chevrolet and GMC Truck will begin publishing a joint Truck Service Bulletin that will be applicable to both Chevrolet TRUCK and GMC TRUCK models. Chevrolet bulletins covering CAR models will not be affected by this change.

Several changes will take place with the issurance of these new bulletins.

NUMBERING SYSTEM

o The new bulletins will be numbered according to the latest model year of the vehicles involved in the bulletin. A bulletin covering a 1983-1985 model year vehicle will become an 85 bulletin. A "-T-" will be included in the number, identifying it as a TRUCK bulletin. The 87-T numbering system has been started with this bulletin, as it covers all model years, including 1987. Any bulletins written for pre-1987 models will be numbered sequentially and by model year involved, along with the -T- designator.

o CHEVROLET DEALERS - Since Chevrolet has started their 87 numbering system (without the -T- designator, it is suggested that Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin 87-02 be separated and included with Truck Service Bulletins.

o GMC DEALERS - The numbering of bulletins written for pre-1987 model year vehicles will not be consecutive as it has been in the past. You may see gaps in the numbering, 85 -T-200 may be followed by 85-T-206.

GROUP/UPC CODES --------------- o CHEVROLET DEALERS - Although there are minor changes in the Group (UPC) listing, your current divider tabs and binders will still be usable.

o GMC DEALERS - The new bulletins will be grouped according to the UPC Codes listed below, which coincide with those currently used in Truck Service Manuals. You will be receiving a new set of divider tabs shortly.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
