🢒 Parking Brake Front Cable Replacement
Removal Procedure
Ensure that the park brake pedal is in the full returned position.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Disconnect the rear park brake cables from the left and right park brake actuators.
From underneath the vehicle, pull down on the front cable (3).
Disconnect the left and right rear cables from the equalizer (2), which is part of the front cable.
Disconnect the front cable from the bracket (1).
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the passenger seat from the vehicle. Refer to
Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement
.
Remove the LH lower closeout panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
.
Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to
Instrument Cluster Replacement
.
Reposition the passenger carpet away from the console.
Remove the grommet from the floor pan (1).
Remove the retainers along the routing of the cable.
Remove the park brake assembly attaching nuts (1) and bolt (2).
Disconnect the park brake switch electrical connector.
Disconnect the park brake release solenoid electrical connector.
Rotate the park brake actuator cable tensioning spring and secure (1).
Remove the front park brake cable from the park brake pedal assembly.
Installation Procedure
Install the cable from the passenger side compartment, over the tunnel and under the HVAC case.
Install the front park brake cable into the park brake pedal assembly.
Install the cable through the floor pan.
Install the grommet to the floor pan.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the retainers along the routing of the cable and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Position the passenger carpet to the console.
Raise the vehicle.
Connect the front cable (3) to the bracket (1).
Connect the left and right rear cables to the equalizer (2), which is part of the front cable (3).
Connect the rear park brake cables to the left and right park brake actuators.
Lower the vehicle.
Release tension from the cable tensioning spring.
Position the park brake pedal assembly.
Install the park brake pedal assembly retaining nuts and bolt and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Connect the park brake release solenoid electrical connector.
Connect the park brake switch electrical connector.
Install the IPC. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Replacement
.
Install the LH lower closeout panel.
Install the passenger seat to the vehicle. Refer to
Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement
.
Apply the park brake pedal and release 2-3 times, to assure proper function of the park brake system.
