Circuit Description

The driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) check the critical temperature of their respective window motors at least once every 50 milliseconds. When the DDM or PDM detects a critical temperature in the window motor, a DTC is set. Normal functional requests are possible until the window is completely closed, then the window is inoperative. Window indexing down is still functional.

DTC B1011 System Disabled Information Stored

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The DDM or PDM detects a critical temperature of the power window motor.
    • Battery voltage must be 9.0-16.0 volts.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Stores DTC B1011 in DDM or PDM memory.
    • Normal functional requests are possible until the window is completely closed, then only window indexing down is possible.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DDM or PDM no longer detects DTC B1011 in DDM or PDM memory, and:
    • The DTC is cleared using a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

    • The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
       - There is an intermittent sticking or binding condition on a window causing excessive current draw resulting in a critical temperature fault.
       - A window motor is shorted internally.
    • If the DTC does not reset after the code is cleared, then the problem may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
