On some 1984 Sevilles, water condensation may be experienced on the lenses of the tail lamp assembly. To assist the evaporation of this moisture, a new tail lamp was put into production at breakpoint 805420. The new tail lamp, as shown in Figure 1, utilizes three large slots which promote the circulation of air inside the taillamp.
Vehicles equipped with the old tail lamps can be corrected as follows:
With the tail lamp on the vehicle, drill three holes, approximately one quarter (.25) inch in diameter, at the designated locations on Figure 2.
For warranty purposes, use labor Operation No. T6048 at .2 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
