Part Restriction - Side Object Detection (SOD) Sensor - keywords SBZA

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

As part of our ongoing quality improvement efforts regarding new technology, the Side Object Detection (also called Side Blind Zone Alert) sensor will be placed on restriction through the PQC to assist Engineering with early product feedback. Your cooperation with this program is greatly appreciated.

Effective Monday, October 15, 2007, the following part numbers will be restricted:

P/N 01999430

P/N 25910830

P/N 25910831

Please complete the following questionnaire before contacting PQC at 1-866-654-7654.

Side Object Detection/Side Blind Zone Alert Questionnaire

1. Customer Complaint (as it reads on the RO):
2. Does the vehicle have any other issues besides the SOD/SBZA complaint?
3. Is the owner complaining of occasional missed alerts, occasional false alerts, or poor operation in rain?

If yes - Occasional missed or false alerts are normal. Refer to SI Document #1986671.

If no - Proceed to Question 4.

4. Do both amber mirror icons illuminate when the vehicle is first started?

If yes - Proceed to Question 5.

If no - Refer to SI Document #1986671.

5. Does the DIC display "Clean Side Blind Zone Alert"?

If yes - Clean fascia - both inside and outside, clean both sensors, and retest.

If no - Proceed to Question 6.

6. Does the Tech2 scan tool communicate with the left and right sensors?

If yes - List DTCs and refer to SI Document #1986671.

If no - Refer to SI Document #1986671.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
