Attention: This service bulletin applies to vehicles in the Japanese market only.


Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle content theft deterrent system is inoperative. Others may comment that the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) security light does not turn on or flash.

Cause

This condition may have been caused by the content theft deterrent system not being enabled at the assembly plant when the vehicle was produced.

Correction

Technicians are to enable the content theft deterrent system with a Tech 2® using the following procedure:

  1. Connect the Tech 2® and build the vehicle.
  2. Select: Body.
  3. Select: Instrument Panel Module.
  4. Select: Module Setup.
  5. Select: Setup New IPM/RIM.
  6. Press: Continue.
  7. Scroll down to CTD Present. Use the right arrow key "->" to place an asterisk "*" in the Change column. Then press Save Options.
  8. Press: Continue.
  9. Press: Exit.
  10. Remove the Tech 2®.
  11. Cycle the ignition OFF and back to ON to verify that the security light now illuminates during bulb check.
