Subject:Rattle from Under Steering Column Area

Models:2006- 2007 Cadillac STS and STS-V



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment on a tinny rattle under the steering column. The noise can be duplicated in the stall by thumping the Steering Wheel in different locations with your fist.

Recommendation/Instructions:

This condition may be caused by the Drivers Knee Bolster Bracket going into resonance. To correct this condition, remove the Knee Bolster Bracket and apply epoxy to the entire periphery where the two hoops are welded to the plate. Allow the epoxy to dry and reinstall the Knee Bolster Bracket.
