Subject:Operating Characteristics of Remote Vehicle Start Features

Models:2006 Cadillac STS

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

There are some operating characteristics of the Remote Vehicle Start (RVS) system that may lead to a misunderstanding or mis-diagnosis of the RVS system.

Recommendation/Instructions:

When personalization (based on driver id) enables climate control and seat temp control for remote start, the Climate Control Panel (CCP) takes the below action after remote start is active:

  1. When ambient temp is greater than 32 degrees F, The CCP uses the previous set temp and operates in FULL AUTO
  2. When ambient temp is less than 32 degrees F and incar temp is equal to or less than 50 degrees F, The CCP uses the previous set temp, DEF mode, manual HI fan, Outside Air inlet and Rear Defroster on.
  3. When incar temp is below 54 degrees F, The CCP enables the Heated seats ON at HIGH
  4. When incar temp is above 80 degrees F and the ambient temp is above 70 degrees F, The CCP enables Ventilated seats ON at HIGH

The HVAC display is OFF during remote start.

After remote start is cancelled by pressing the Start button, the CCP reverts to the previous set temp/mode/blower and heated/vented seat operation, if on, is carried over to medium setting from the remote start.
