Models:2006 Cadillac STS V-series
equipped with 4.4L V8 (RPO LC3 - VIN D) engine

Attention: An involved vehicle identification (VIN) list is contained in the Administrative Message (U.S.) or Dealer Communication (Canada). If any of these vehicles are still in your inventory, perform this repair as soon as possible but no later than April 30, 2006, at which time this bulletin will expire.

Condition

The production routing of the post catalytic converter heated oxygen sensor wire harness may permit contact between the sensor wire harness and shift linkage rod. This may result in wear of the wire harness sleeve.

Correction

Dealers are to re-route the post catalytic converter heated oxygen sensor wire harness away from the shift linkage rod and install a wire harness clip.

Service Procedure

Perform this service procedure on vehicles in dealer inventory that are listed on the attached VIN list and in the GM Vehicle Inquiry System (GMVIS).

This service procedure provides instructions for re-routing the heated O2 Bank 2 sensor 2 wire harness away from the shift linkage rod. A wire harness clip, P/N 3827371, is required in order to complete the service procedure.

Caution: In order to avoid being burned, do not re-route the heated O2 sensor wire harness or work around the exhaust system while it is still hot. Perform service procedure when vehicle engine and exhaust system are not hot.

Important: 

   • Bank 2 on the 4.4L V8 (LC3) engine is the left side of the engine while sitting in the driver‘s seat.
   • Sensor 2 is the second sensor down stream from the engine towards the rear of the vehicle.

  1. Remove the left (driver’s side) front compartment sight shield. Refer to "Front Compartment Sight Shield Replacement," SI document 1736156.

  2. Object Number: 1759625  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the heated O2 bank 2 sensor 2 wire harness electrical connector (1) from the engine wiring harness at the rear of the left (driver’s side) cylinder head.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to "Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle," SI document 813128.

  5. Object Number: 1759629  Size: SH

    Important: Do NOT remove heated O2 bank 2 sensor 2 from exhaust pipe.

  6. Re-route the heated O2 bank 2 sensor 2 wire harness away from away from the shift linkage rod and bracket as shown in illustration. (1) Production Routing (2) New Routing

  7. Object Number: 1759632  Size: SH
  8. Install the wire harness clip (P/N 3827371) to the underbody of vehicle as shown in illustration.

  9. Object Number: 1759625  Size: SH
  10. Connect the heated O2 bank 2 sensor 2 wire harness connector (1).

  11. Object Number: 1759636  Size: SH
  12. Route and anchor the heated O2 bank 2 sensor 2 wire harness through the wire harness clip (1) (P/N3827371) as shown in illustration.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Install the left (driver’s side) front compartment sight shield. Refer to "Front Compartment Sight Shield Replacement," SI document 1736156.
