Engine Coolant Fan Replacement LH2 Standard Cooling
Removal Procedure
Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is
not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any
underhood electric fan.
Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked,
or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
.
- Disengage the surge tank inlet hose from the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud and reposition aside.
- Remove the upper retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Remove the LH lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the front air deflector retainers.
- Remove the front air deflector.
- Remove the RH lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Disconnect and reposition the engine wiring harness from the engine frame and reposition.
- Remove the retaining bolts that secure the power steering line to the cooling fan shroud.
- Remove the retaining bolts that secure the transmission oil cooler lines to the cooling fan shroud.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cooling fan assembly.
- Raise the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining bolts that secure the transmission oil cooler lines to the cooling fan shroud.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the retaining bolts that secure the power steering lines to the cooling fan shroud.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Connect the engine wiring harness to the engine frame.
- Install the RH lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the front air deflector.
- Install the front air deflector retainers.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Install the upper retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the left side lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Engage the surge tank inlet hose to the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
.
Engine Coolant Fan Replacement LH2 Heavy Duty Cooling
Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper mounting bolts that secure the auxiliary cooling fan assembly to the condenser.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the front air deflector retainers.
- Remove the front air deflector.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the auxiliary cooling fan assembly.
- Remove the lower mounting bolts that secure the auxiliary cooling fan assembly to the condenser.
- Remove the auxiliary cooling fan assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the auxiliary cooling fan assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the mounting bolts that secure the auxiliary cooling fan assembly to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connectors to the auxiliary cooling fan assembly.
- Install the front air deflector.
- Install the front air deflector retainers.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the upper mounting bolts that secure the auxiliary cooling fan assembly to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).

Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the condenser tube from the cooling fan shroud retainer clip.
- Disengage the surge tank inlet hose from the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud and reposition aside.
- Remove the retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cooling fan assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Engage the surge tank inlet hose to the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud.
- Connect the condenser tube to the cooling fan shroud retainer clip.
- Connect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement

Removal Procedure

- Remove the supercharger inlet duct assembly. Refer to
Supercharger Inlet Duct Assembly Replacement for the 4.4L engine.
- Remove the front transmission oil cooler pipes. Refer to
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Replacement - Front for the 6L80 transmission.
- Disengage the surge tank inlet hose from the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud and reposition aside.
- Remove the upper retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Remove the LH lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the front air deflector retainers.
- Remove the front air deflector.
- Remove the RH lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
- Disconnect and reposition the engine wiring harness from the engine frame and reposition.
- Remove the retaining bolts that secure the power steering line to the cooling fan shroud.
- Remove the retaining bolts that secure the transmission oil cooler lines to the cooling fan shroud.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cooling fan assembly.
- Raise the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining bolts that secure the transmission oil cooler lines to the cooling fan shroud.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the retaining bolts that secure the power steering lines to the cooling fan shroud.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Connect the engine wiring harness to the engine frame.
- Install the RH lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the front air deflector.
- Install the front air deflector retainers.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
- Install the upper retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the left side lower retaining bolt that secures the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Engage the surge tank inlet hose to the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud.
- Install the front transmission oil cooler pipes. Refer to
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Replacement - Front for the 6L80 transmission.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Supercharger Inlet Duct Assembly Replacement for the 4.4L engine.
