Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical
connector.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
.
- Remove the MAF/IAT sensor screws.
Notice:
⢠| Handle the MAF sensor carefully. |
⢠| Do not drop the MAF sensor in order to prevent damage to the MAF
sensor. |
⢠| Do not damage the screen located on the air inlet
end of the MAF. |
⢠| Do not touch the sensing elements. |
⢠| Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the
sensing elements. |
⢠| Use a small amount of a soap based solution in order to aid in
the installation. |
- Carefully remove the MAF/IAT sensor from the air cleaner housing cover.
- Discard the MAF/IAT sensor gasket.
Installation Procedure
Notice:

sensor. |
⢠| Do not damage the screen located on the air inlet
end of the MAF. |

the installation. |
- Install a NEW MAF/IAT sensor gasket.
- Carefully install the MAF/IAT sensor into the air cleaner housing cover.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the MAF/IAT sensor screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4 NĀ·m (35 lb in).
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
.
- Reconnect the MAF/IAT sensor electrical connector.
