The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment on a hiss or whine noise on the XM band of the radio when changing stations. This condition is likely caused by radio software that was introduced into production on February 25, 2005 to balance the volume between the radio bands but has been found to produce background noise on the XM band. Vehicles built prior to February 25, 2005 could develop the concern if the radio has been exchanged.
Recommendation/Instructions:
No repair attempts should be made for this characteristic.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
