Rear Molded Splash Guards And Exhaust Interference/Rattle - keywords accessories accessory contact guard noise

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

After installing the SRX Accessories Rear Molded Splash Guards (P/N 12499189 Front + Rear or P/N 12498914 Rear only), a condition may be present where by the splash guards are in contact with the exhaust muffler flanges. This has been deemed as a "normal condition". However, if a rattle noise condition is identified in the rear of the vehicle following installation, the following procedure should be followed to eliminate the "loose contact" condition that is causing the noise condition:

1. Loosen screw that fastens the rear splash guard to fascia.
2. Remove lower inboard rear splash guard push pin.
3. Replace the removed push pin with Push Pin (P/N 11519807). Insert the new push pin through the rear splash guard, through Washer (P/N 11518604), through the fascia, through the liner, then fasten.
4. Push the rear splash guard inboard and up tight against fascia. Retighten screw.

Repeat this procedure for the other rear splash guard as required.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
