Squeak or Chirp Noise from Center Console - keywords creak DVD entertainment rear RSE seat U42 video

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some vehicles may experience a squeak or chirp type noise from the center console area on vehicles equipped with the Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system (RPO U42). The noise may be caused by the DVD Control Module contacting the plastic trim ring.

1. Remove the rear DVD Player using eSI Document ID # 1392437.
2. Remove one of the screws on the side of the DVD and place a piece of felt approximately 5mm X 50mm on the edge of the trim plate where it interfaces to the DVD controller.
3. Repeat step 2 for the opposite side of the DVD controller.

Note: It may be necessary to trim off a small piece of the forward edge of the tape to prevent it from showing through.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
