Radiator Surge Tank Replacement Left Hand Drive

Removal Procedure
- Drain the coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector and reposition aside.
- Using the
J 38185
, disengage and reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp.
- Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose.
- Using the
J 38185
, disengage and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp.
- Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose.
- Remove the surge tank bolt.
- Remove the surge tank nut.
- Disconnect the low coolant sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the surge tank.
Installation Procedure
- Install the surge tank.
- Connect the low coolant sensor electrical connector.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the surge tank nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the surge tank bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
Important: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.
- Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the surge tank.
- Using the
J 38185
, resposition the hose clamp to secure the surge tank inlet hose.
- Connect the surge tank outlet hose.
- Using the
J 38185
, resposition the hose clamp to secure the surge tank outlet hose.
- Connect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
