The navigation system's voice recognition allows for hands-free operation of navigation, phone, audio system, climate controls, windows, OnStar®, and memory features. Voice recognition can be used when the ignition is ON or when retained accessory power (RAP) is active. Refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Description and Operation in Computer/Integrating Systems or to Navigation System Description and Operation in Navigation Systems. To use voice recognition , do the following:
If you experience difficulty with the system recognizing a command, try saying it more softly and wait for a few seconds after the beep, or you may just try saying it again. This system is able to recognize commands in 5 different languages. The system will only recognize commands based on the language selected. To use the voice recognition system, the map digital video disk (DVD) must be loaded.
The following are personalization commands you can access through voice recognition by clearly stating the commands exactly as they are written. These functions are available to help with setting, storing, and recalling driver settings.
Set driver one, set driver two: These commands instruct the system to change the driver setting between driver 1 and driver 2. For more information, refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation in Keyless Entry.Other voice commands available for the navigation system are as follows:

This vehicle is equipped with personalization that allows you to program certain features to a preferred setting for up to 2 people. The number of programmable features varies depending upon which model of vehicle is purchased. On all vehicles, features such as climate control settings, radio preset settings, exterior lighting at unlock, remote lock and unlock confirmation, and automatic door locks (ADL) have already been programmed for your convenience. Some vehicles are equipped with additional features that can be programmed, including the seat and outside rearview mirror position. The optional navigation system screen preferences will remain at the last set position. If your vehicle is equipped with the ability to program additional personalization features, the drivers preferences are recalled by pressing the UNLOCK button on the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter or by pressing the appropriate memory button, 1 or 2, located on the driver door. Certain features can be programmed not to recall until the key is placed in the ignition. To change feature preferences you must use one of the following procedures.

Now you are ready to program the personalization features. The following choices are available for programming using both the base audio and navigation systems, unless otherwise indicated.
This feature allows you to type in a name that will appear on the DIC display whenever the corresponding remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter is used or one of the buttons on the driver door armrest (1 or 2) is pressed.
If a customized name is not programmed, the system will Driver 1 or Driver 2 to correspond with the numbers on the back of the remote keyless.

This feature allows you to customize the functions of the 4 soft keys located to the left and right of the audio display. Most of the available functions are audio system related. See Audio Systems for more information.
This feature recalls any previously programmed seat and mirror controls when the Unlock button on the RKE transmitter is pressed.

This feature allows any previously programmed exit position for the driver seat to be recalled when the Unlock button on the RKE transmitter is pressed.

This feature allows you to set the amount of time you want the exterior lamps to remain ON after you exit the vehicle.
Before the vehicle was shipped from the factory, it was programmed with this feature turned OFF. This may have been changed since the vehicle left the factory. To determine the mode to which the vehicle is programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, do the following:

This feature allows any previously programmed exit positions for the driver seat to be recalled when the driver door is opened, and the key is out of the ignition.

Before the vehicle was shipped from the factory, it was programmed to mode 1. The mode to which the vehicle was programmed may have been changed since it left the factory. To determine the mode to which the vehicle is programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures.

This feature allows the exterior lamps to flash once when the RKE transmitter is used to lock the vehicle. All doors must be closed for this feature to work, and the lamps will not flash if the parking lamps or headlamps are ON.
Before the vehicle was shipped from the factory, it was programmed to mode 1. The mode to which the vehicle was programmed may have been changed since it left the factory. To determine the mode to which the vehicle is programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures.

Before the vehicle was shipped from the factory it was programmed to mode 1. The mode to which the vehicle was programmed may have been changed since it left the factory. To determine the mode to which the vehicle was programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures:

To determine the mode to which the vehicle was programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures:

This feature delays the locking of the vehicle doors for up to 5 seconds after a power door lock switch or the lock button on the RKE transmitter is pressed. The 5 second delay occurs after the last door is closed.
Before the vehicle was shipped from the factory it was programmed to mode 1. The mode to which the vehicle was programmed may have been changed since it left the factory. To determine the mode to which the vehicle was programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures:
The mode you selected is now set. You can either exit the programming mode or program the next feature available.
This feature allows you to disable either all the passenger window controls or the rear passenger window controls only.
Before the vehicle was shipped from the factory it was programmed to mode 2. The mode to which the vehicle was programmed may have been changed since it left the factory. To determine the mode to which the vehicle was programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures:

This feature will move the passenger outside rearview mirror to a curb-view position when the shift lever is placed in REVERSE (R).

This feature allows you to adjust the volume level of the vehicle's warning chimes. The chime volume cannot be turned OFF, only adjusted.

To determine the mode to which the vehicle was programmed or to program the vehicle to a different mode, use one of the following procedures:

To exit PERSONALIZATION using the base audio system, press the BACK key when you've finished making your selections. You will return to the main audio screen.
To exit Feature Programming using the Navigation system, press the button with the dot on it next to the back prompt once you've finished making your selections. You will return to the Main Menu.
