Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Display the Adjustable Pedal Switch parameters in the memory seat module Inputs data list.
  3. Operate the adjustable pedal switch in both directions

Does the scan tool display the correct switch status in relation to the actual switch position?

  1. Disconnect the adjustable pedal switch connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the switch connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Connect a fused jumper wire from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the adjustable pedal forward switch signal circuit terminal in the switch harness connector.

Does the scan tool display the adjustable pedal forward switch as active?

Go to Step 6

Connect a fused jumper wire from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the adjustable pedal rearward switch signal circuit terminal in the switch harness connector.

Does the scan tool display the adjustable pedal rearward switch as active?

  1. Disconnect the LH instrument panel (I/P) to body harness inline connector.
  2. Remove the adjustable pedal motor control circuits form the body harness connector half.
  3. Connect the LH I/P to body harness inline connector.
  4. Using a scan tool clear the memory seat module DTCs.
  5. Connect a test lamp across the motor control circuit terminals.
  6. Important: If the pedals are at one of the stops the memory seat module will not attempt to activate the motor in that direction.

  7. Operate the adjustable pedal switch in both directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate while the switch is in the forward and rearward directions?

Test the adjustable pedal switch signal circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the adjustable pedal motor control circuits to the memory seat module for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the battery voltage supply circuit to the adjustable pedal switch for an open or short to ground.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 18

Test the motor control circuits in the I/P harness for the following conditions:

    • An open
    • A short to ground
    • A short to voltage

Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the adjustable pedal switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
