DEFINITION: This table is for vehicles equipped with park lamp daytime running lamps.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the gear selector in the PARK position.

Do the daytime running lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

With a scan tool, observe the Daytime Running Lamp parameter in the dash integration module (DIM) Outputs Data List.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Daytime Running Lamp parameter is OFF?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the turn signal/hazard/flasher module.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the daytime running lights (DRL) control circuit at the turn signal/hazard/flasher module connector and battery positive voltage.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, command the Daytime Running Lamps output control parameter in the DIM output control list ON and OFF several times.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

With the turn signal/hazard/flasher module disconnected are both DRL lamps OFF?

Go to Step 7

Test the DRL control circuit for a open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal/hazard/flasher module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to power in the appropriate front turn signal output control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

DEFINITION: This table is for export vehicles that utilize the low beam headlamps and park lamps as daytime running lamps.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the OFF position.
  3. Expose the ambient light sensor to a bright light.
  4. Place the gear selector in the PARK position.

Do the daytime running lamps remain illuminated?

With a scan tool, observe the Daytime Running Lamp parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Outputs Data List.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Daytime Running Lamp parameter is OFF?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the daytime running lights (DRL) relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the daytime running lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the DRL relay coil side supply voltage circuit and the DRL relay control circuit.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Test the DRL relay control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?
