Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Observe the park lamps.
  3. Turn the park lamps ON and OFF.

Do the park lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the park lamps.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Park Lamp Switch parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Inputs Data List.

Does the data parameter display ON?

Go to Step 4

  1. Expose the sunload sensor assembly to a bright light.
  2. Wait more than 20 seconds.
  3. Turn OFF the park lamps.
  4. With a scan tool, command the parking lamps relay ON and OFF from the DIM Special Functions, Output Control data list.

Did all of the park lamps turn ON and OFF?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the multifunction, turn signal switch.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between the park lamp switch ON signal circuit of the multifunction, turn signal switch and the ground circuit of the multifunction, turn signal switch.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the park lamp switch input data parameter display ON?

Go to Step 16

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the park lamp relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp relay control side supply voltage circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Connect a test lamp between the park lamp relay switch side supply voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp relay control circuit of the park lamp relay and the park lamp relay coil side supply voltage circuit of the park lamp relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool command the parking lamps relay ON and OFF.

Did the test lamp turn ON and OFF?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a 30-amp fused jumper between the park lamp relay switch side supply voltage circuit of the park lamp relay and the park lamp supply voltage circuit of the park lamp relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did all of the park lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 17

  1. Disconnect the inoperative park lamp bulb.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp supply voltage circuit of the inoperative park lamp bulb and ground circuit inoperative park lamp bulb.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the park lamp supply voltage circuit for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the coil side supply voltage circuit of the park lamp relay for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the park lamp relay control circuit of the park lamp relay for a short to voltage or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the DIM.
