Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the hazard lamps.
  3. Turn ON the hazard lamps.
  4. Turn OFF the hazard lamps.

Did the hazard lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn OFF the hazard lamps.
  4. Observe the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Inputs Data List.

Does the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter indicate OFF?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the hazard switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter.

Does the Hazard Lamp Switch parameter indicate OFF?

Go to Step 7

Test the hazard switch output circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 13

Test the hazard switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the hazard switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn signal/hazard flasher module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the hazard switch. Refer to Hazard Warning Switch Replacement .

Replace the turn signal/hazard flasher module. Refer to Hazard and Turn Signal Flasher Replacement .

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the DIM.

Replace the DIM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
