Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left valve rocker arms. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Replacement - Left Side .

  2. Object Number: 928427  Size: SH

    Important: Ensure each camshaft follower remains matched to the original stationary hydraulic lash adjuster (SHLA) and original location the components were assembled in.

  3. Remove the SHLA from the left cylinder head bores.
  4. Clean and inspect the valve lifters. Refer to Valve Lifters Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure the crankshaft is in the top dead center (TDC) position for the number one cylinder.
  2. Notice: Refer to Valve Lifter Priming Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 240801  Size: SH
  3. Fill the SHLA with clean engine oil. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the correct part number.
  4. Take precautions to prevent scratching the pivot sphere area (1) of the SHLA.

  5. Lubricate the SHLA bores of the cylinder head with clean engine oil. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the correct part number.
  6. Install the SHLA into the bores.
  7. Install the left valve rocker arms. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Replacement - Left Side .
