Some 1984 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with HT4100 engines and THM 325-4L transmissions built prior to serial numbers 84 AJ 84686 or 84 AE 4838 (refer to Figure 1) may exhibit a condition of harsh shift feel, or bump, during a 3-4 upshift. To fix this condition, calibration changes were made to the control valve assembly, spacer plate and associated gaskets; and a 3-4 accumulator spring was added.
To repair a harsh 3-4 upshift condition on transmissions built prior to the listed serial numbers, install the following parts:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
