Headlamp Flicker

Subject:Headlamp Flicker

Models:2006- 2007 Cadillac DTS built before June 19, 2007



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A customer may comment their headlamps flicker at times. The cause may be water entering the headlamp capsule assembly through a vent, resulting in corrosion in the internal headlamp electrical connectors.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Important: If one of the headlamps is currently inoperative. Follow Diagnostic Information and Procedures- Headlamps Malfunction first.

  1. If the concern is intermittent, remove the headlamp bulb cover. Refer to Repair Instructions-Headlamp Bulb Replacement.
  2. Inspect for the presence of corrosion in the electrical connections inside of the headlamp capsule.
  3. If corrosion is found, replace the headlamp capsule assembly.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
