SOME 1985 JB EQUIPPED WITH A 2.8L V-6 ENGINE MAY EXPERIENCE A HISSING NOISE SHORTLY AFTER STARTUP DURING IDLE AND LOW SPEED OPERATION WITH THE A/C COMPRESSOR ENGAGED. TO ELIMINATE THIS CONDITION THE ORIFICE TUBE WAS RELOCATED TOWARD THE CONDENSOR ON 1986 2.8L V-6 MODEL JB. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITIN ON 1985 JB'S EQUIPPED WITH THE 2.8L V-6 ENGINE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE SHOULD BE UTILIZED. CAUTION: BEFORE ANY SERVICE IS ATTEMPTED WHICH REQUIRES OPENING REFRIGERANT LINES OR COMPONENTS, THE TECHNICIAN DOING THE WORK SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY FAMILIAR WITH THE INFORMATION UNDER PRECAUTIONS IN HANDLING REFRIGERANT-12, PRECAUTIONS IN HANDLING REFRIGERANT LINES AND FITTINGS, MAINTAINING CHEMICAL STABILITY IN THE REFRIGERANT SYSTEM, REFRIGERANT CHARGING PRECAUTIONS AND DISCHARGING, ADDING OIL, EVACUATING AND CHARGING PROCEDURES FOR A/C SYSTEMS IN THE CIMARRON SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 1B. 1. DISCHARGE A/C SYSTEM AS DESCRIBED IN THE JB SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL, SECTION 1B. 2. DISCONNECT COMPRESSOR SUCTION LINE (1) FROM ACCUMULATOR. 3. DISCONNECT BLOCK COUPLING (4) FROM CONDENSOR AND DISENGAGE COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE (2) AND LIQUID LINE (3) VIEW A. 4. REMOVE THE TWO LIQUID LINE RETAINING CLIPS (5) ON THE FRAME RAIL. 5. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSES FROM THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CANISTER. 6. HOIST CAR. 7. REMOVE SUCTION AND DISCHARGE HOSE BLOCK COUPLING (6) FROM REAR OF COMPRESSOR AND DISCONNECT LINES. 8. REMOVE COMPRESSOR SUCTION AND DISCHARGE HOSE ASSEMBLY FROM CAR AND DISCARD. 9. DISCONNECT EVAPORATOR BLOCK COUPLING (7) VIEW B, AND DISENGAGE CONDENSOR LINE FIRST AND THEN ACCUMULATOR LINE. 10. REMOVE ORIFICE TUBE FROM EVAPORATOR. 11. REMOVE LIQUID LINE (3) FROM CAR AND DISCARD. 12. INSTALL SUCTION AND DISCHARGE HOSE ASSEMBLY P/N 14093425 AND LIQUID LINE WITH ORIFICE TUBE P/N 14093426 "VIEW A" BY REVERSING THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE USING NEW LUBRICATED O-RINGS. 13. EVACUATE AND CHARGE THE REFRIGERANT SYSTEM AS DESCRIBED IN THE JB SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL, SECTION 1B. FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES, USE OPERATION NUMBER T6175 AT 1.2 HOURS (INCLUDES SYSTEM RECHARGE).
