Beginning in late 1984 transaxle model year production, a "V" shaped slot was added to the case cover of the THM 125C transaxle at the "drive feed" oil circuit (refer to Figure 1).
This slot allows a small amount of transaxle fluid to spray onto the drive link (chain) in order to provide additionallubrication.
The slot is intentional and should not be considered as damage or wear upon inspection of the case cover.
Replacement of previous design case covers is not required when servicing the THM 125C transaxle. If replacement of the case cover becomes necessary due to damage or wear, use late type cover P/N 8653968 to service both CA and CB models. Service either design case cover following procedures listed in the Service Information Manual.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
