Clunk Or Click When Turning

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment of a clunk or click noise from the steering column area when turning the steering wheel. This concern can be duplicated by turning the steering wheel back and forth. The cause may be loose rivets on the lower steering column support bearing cap.

Inspect the lower steering column support bearing bracket for any loose rivets. If a loose rivet(s) is found, replace the steering column.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
