The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment on a clunk or rattle noise in the rear of the vehicle over bumps. This may be caused by the rear stabilizer shaft link or the shock absorber lower bushing in the rear suspension knuckle.
1. Check the Stabilizer Shaft Links to be sure that rod is properly attached to the ball pivot. If one or both of the links has separated (1), replace both stabilizer bar links. If neither link has separated, do not replace the links.
2. Check the shock absorber lower bushing in the rear suspension knuckle on both sides of the vehicle. Inspect for contact between the shock clevis bracket and the knuckle (2). If the bushing is de-bonded, contact can occur causing a noise. If the bushing is de-bonded, replace the knuckle, but do not replace the lower control arm, the cradle, the shock, or any other suspension link.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
